Why I Need the Miami Heat to be in the Finals

I need this to happen. (photo credit: Getty Images)

No, I haven't let up my disdain for that awfully talented trio whom I never want to see win a championship for the sheer audacity of getting together and putting fear in the hearts of every other team's fans out there (yes I am petty and small minded in that way).

Having cleared that out, I will be rooting for the Miami Heat today (June 10 8:30 AM, Manila) in Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals for the simple reason that I am a basketball fan. I don't mean any disrespect to the amazing fight that the Boston Celtics have shown thus far in this series, but I have to be real, those legs aren't going to make it against the Thunder. I can only imagine what a 'hohum' game that would be and NOBODY wants hohum in June.

The Heat needs to win because that will be the only way to somehow rectify last summer and the tragedy this season has been what with a shortened, cramped season full of needless off-court drama and countless injuries that have ended the runs of so many teams. There's already an abundance of what ifs and I seriously cannot take adding "what if Lebron and Durant met in the Finals?" to that list. I'd be heartbroken.

So please please please Lebron, show up later with your Game 6 genius and give those Celtics the boot as you head your way to the Finals.

This fan girl needs it.

The game of basketball needs it.
