"I think…that if life separates us, and we end up in totally different places, we’ll always remember when our paths in life in this period’s like, and I’ll be thankful for that… And I hope that wherever you are, you’ll be thankful too… And I think that’s the best we could wish for."
Just as a good friend told me a few days ago, there are broken relationships that we can no longer salvage and severed connections that are best left that way simply because it is where life is taking us already. We may never know why fate has nothing more for us other than that brief encounter or how our unicorns turn out to be shams, but the thing is there was a time when that moment was eternity and the unicorn was the realest thing. And if only for that, we should hope that even in the messiest of our goodbyes that there will be a moment when you look back and you smile and you know that somewhere in the world is the other half of that memory and that it is eliciting from its bearer even just the faintest trace of a smile.
